On Wednesday, June 7, 2006 the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples invited John Bernard to be a witness at the committee hearings on Aboriginal Economic development. John was also given an opportunity to discuss Donna Cona's success, our experiences, as well as the Aboriginal Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal business.
The Committee has held national proceedings to examine and report on the involvement of Aboriginal communities & businesses in economic development activities in Canada. So far, the committee has heard from a number of key witnesses in Ottawa, including public hearings last fall in British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories for their study. The committee is planning on visiting other parts of the country in the coming year before finalizing their report.
