Donna Cona is currently seeking a Senior Data Communications Administrator for the Government of Nunavut.  This position is located in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science or IT related diploma/degree
• 5 years of experience in the below mentioned responsibilities
• Related Industry Certifications, for example, Cisco and Nortel

Required Competencies

• Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as work on individual tasks
• Excellent writing and documentation skills
• High level of organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Provide support and administration for a large WAN environment specifically related to frame relay over satellite
• Works with Network provider to resolve network outages and technical problems 
• Provide administration and support in a large distributed LAN environment, utilizing Ethernet over various last mile technologies
• Provide communities with phone or remote support using administration tools provided by the client. There may also be travel to communities outside of Iqaluit.
• Communicate with third party vendors of Data communication equipment and associated applications used by the client
• Create technical documentations and edit and test vendor provided documentation
• Provide expertise on identified internal projects relating to the client IT infrastructure
• Contribute to the post mortem analysis following any assigned project completion 
• Provide recommendations to improve and enhance the client network environment both technically and procedurally
• Provide mentorship to client Staff including various client departments

• All candidates must hold or be eligible for a valid Government of Canada security clearance to at least the Reliability level.
