National Aboriginal Achievement Award (NAAA), Business and Commerce
John Bernard, President of Donna Cona, was named year 2000 recipient of the National Aboriginal Achievement Award (NAA Award) in Business and Commerce. Mr. Bernard is a member of Maliseet First Nations from New Brunswick's Madawaska region. One of the Aboriginal community's more prestigious awards, the NAA Award is presented annually to distinguished Aboriginal men and women who have made a significant contribution in their respective occupations.
Top 40 Under 40, Business Achievement Award
John Bernard was presented the "Top 40 Under 40" award in May 2000. The Globe & Mail award honours men and women who have become outstanding leaders in their chosen field before reaching 40 years of age. Mr. Bernard was recognized for Donna Cona's technological achievement; installing wireless communications via satellite for the Government of Nunavut.
Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR), Silver Award
Donna Cona received the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Silver Award in February 2001. PAR is a national award given to companies committed to working proactively with Aboriginal people, business and communities. Donna Cona was recognized for its outstanding contribution in creating sustained economic business growth and development.
